About The Position

EXPLO is seeking an Admissions Counselor & Summer Staff to join their year-round team. This position combines relationship-driven admissions and enrollment work with hands-on involvement in their residential summer program. Throughout the year, the counselor will manage a portfolio of prospective students and families, building relationships from initial inquiry through enrollment. They will help families understand the EXPLO experience, identify the right program for their child, and navigate the admissions process. During the summer, the role shifts to bringing the EXPLO experience to life, requiring on-campus residency at Wellesley College. The summer assignment will be based on experience, strengths, and program needs, potentially including student life, programming, or campus operations. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in admissions, enrollment, education, student affairs, youth programming, recruitment, or relationship-based sales who enjoy connecting with families and being involved in the programs they help students discover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • 2–5 years of experience in admissions, education, youth programming, or related fields.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.
  • Cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and a “make-it-happen” mindset.
  • Required on-campus residency during summer program.
  • Occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Domestic travel for recruitment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to prospective families via phone, email, web, social media, and in-person events.
  • Meet enrollment goals using effective sales and relationship-building strategies.
  • Manage applicants from inquiry through enrollment and maintain admissions tracking.
  • Interview and evaluate students, making admissions decisions that support an inclusive campus community.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Programs, Student Financial Aid, Marketing, Analytics, and Operations teams.
  • Live on campus for one week of orientation + four weeks of student programming.
  • Serve in a role aligned with your skills (student life, programming, or operations).
  • Execute campus responsibilities determined prior to program start.
  • Contribute ideas for improving programming and recruitment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
