About The Position

This role is for an Admissions Coordinator in the Inpatient Rehabilitation department at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola. The new facility is set to open in July 2026 and will provide continuous care for patients recovering from strokes, trauma, and other major injuries. Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Registered Nurse preferred.
  • Rehab Therapist preferred.
  • Social Worker preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with health care admissions processes and pre-authorization
  • Familiarity with payer sources and insurance products

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate patient admission according to patient acuity, bed availability, and required services.
  • Perform onsite clinical assessments of potential candidates.
  • Coordinate transfer process, working with referral sources, insurance companies, and various healthcare staff and departments.
  • Monitor patient’s insurance status during hospital stay.
  • Assist with development and improvement of processes designed to keep referral sources informed of patient status and discharge recommendations.
  • Provide pre-admission assessment, insurance verification, and pre-certification for admission.
