About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Admissions Clerk to join our team! This role is responsible for the efficient and orderly admission of outpatient testing or procedures. The Admissions Clerk ensures that patient information is collected and entered accurately into the computer system, and that patients are informed of Urgent Care policies and procedures. This involves interviewing incoming patients or their representatives, entering required admission information into the computer, and distributing relevant information to ancillary departments. A key performance indicator for this role is maintaining a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use hospital information system.
  • Ability to operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Registering patients for outpatient testing and procedures.
  • Obtaining personal information or verifying existing patient information, including emergency contacts and insurance details.
  • Obtaining signatures on MSE and Condition of Admission forms.
  • Communicating appropriately and clearly with supervisors, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Receiving patient payments or co-payments as required and posting transactions accurately to the system.
  • Counting the till drawer and verifying the correct amount at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Maintaining department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Knowing Urgent Care policies and being familiar with available Urgent Care services.
  • Demonstrating flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well in stressful situations.
  • Treating patients and their families with respect and dignity, ensuring the confidentiality of patient records.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Participating in educational programs, completing annual educational requirements, and attending in-service and other required meetings.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Accepting and completing other assigned or requested duties.
  • Maintaining a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report cards.
  • Maintaining accurate time clock punches, punching in and out according to Urgent Care policy.
  • Answering incoming calls to the facility in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and wearing appropriate clothing according to the dress code.
  • Complying with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
