About The Position

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated Admissions and Disposition Clerk to support the Patient Administration Department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. Duty Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. No Telework allowed. Duty Hours: Monday – Friday (0700 – 1530). Total work hours shall not exceed 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High School degree / GED
  • Possess a minimum of two (2) years Office Automation/Front Desk Clerk, with at least one (1) year in a medical or hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated competence in the use of the capabilities, operating characteristics, and advanced functions of office automation software (e.g., word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, database, spreadsheet, or communication).
  • Capable of typing 60 words per minute and well versed in the operation of a wide range of dictating equipment and software.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of standard medical facility/office rules, regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other guidelines relating to completing tasks. This knowledge is usually attained through extensive, increasingly difficult, and practical experience and training in a medical office or similar setting.
  • Must pass TB Test

Responsibilities

  • Receives and screens telephone calls; receives walk-in patients; responds to various general and routine medical, personnel and administrative inquiries, and escorts patients as necessary.
  • Creates preadmission charts and completes the process in the electronic medical record or government systems in accordance with regulation and local policy and procedure.
  • Provides advance directives, third party liability documentation, and other forms for patient to complete for inclusion into inpatient medical record.
  • Tracks and reports daily patient movement, bed status and ward transfers.
  • Corrects admission errors.
  • Assists in coordinating patient transfers from other wards or to outside facilities.
  • Tracks and reports all casualty reports and notifications in accordance Government policies and procedures.
