About The Position

The Admissions Therapist is responsible for creating a five-star first impression of RCA with the patients and families entering treatment at the inpatient facility level. The Admissions Therapist will facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, medical, and financial arrangements of patients and their families seeking treatment for a substance use disorder. The Admissions Therapist is responsible for thorough documentation of patients presenting problems, needs, and risk related to substance abuse and co-occurring problems and obtain insurance coverage for treatment (when indicated).

Requirements

Master's degree w the following credentialing (LSW, LMFT-A, LMHC-A, and LAC) required or LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, and LCAC preferred.
One to three years of experience in a behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
Knowledge of ASAM criteria for Level of Care (3.7 and 3.5)
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Nice To Haves

Admissions experience in substance abuse services preferred.

Responsibilities

Evaluate clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assess their readiness for treatment
Review and recommend treatment options with clients and their families
Provides appropriate orientation to program aspects post admission, including documentation and data input into computer system.
Ensures financial eligibility setup
Assures prompt responses to patient needs, reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs, and ensures fair distribution of patients to physicians.
Provides telephone and in person assessments and, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
Collects and analyzes data related to departmental performance indicators.
Assists with admission searches, safety search and personal belongings as needed.
Assists counselors and other senior program staff in crisis intervention as needed.
Additional duties as requested.
