About The Position

The Admission Counselor will conduct outreach and student recruitment activities, interview and counsel prospective students, review student applications, and manage programs that contribute to the University's enrollment and academic goals. This role involves informing prospective applicants about Point Park's program offerings and admission process, enhancing the visibility of Point Park within assigned territories, and encouraging campus visits. The counselor will communicate with prospective and admitted students via telephone and email, documenting interactions in JRM. Responsibilities also include evaluating admission applications, communicating scholarship and financial aid opportunities, guiding admitted students through the matriculation process, and assisting with various admission office projects such as coordinating campus visits and planning events. The position also serves as a liaison to other campus offices and requires participation in professional development, particularly with the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two years admissions experience
  • Familiarity with recruitment and enrollment processes
  • Ability to serve the various constituencies among Point Park University students (freshman and part-time)
  • Ability to build and enhance recruitment programs to improve matriculation
  • Work occasional evenings/weekends
  • Obtain PA Act 153 clearances (PA State Police Criminal History Report, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance)
  • Must have a valid PA driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach and student recruitment activities.
  • Interview and counsel prospective students.
  • Review student applications and conduct follow-up activities.
  • Manage programs that contribute to the University's enrollment and academic goals.
  • Inform prospective applicants of Point Park's program offerings and admission process.
  • Enhance the visibility of Point Park among high schools, community organizations, and the region within assigned territories.
  • Document and report visits and recruitment fairs.
  • Encourage interested prospective and admitted students to visit campus.
  • Communicate with prospective students via telephone and email regarding admission status, campus visit, scheduled events, etc., and document notes in JRM.
  • Evaluate applications for admission and provide necessary information to the Director of Admission.
  • Communicate with admitted students about available scholarship and financial aid opportunities.
  • Converse with admitted students regarding next steps from admit to matriculation.
  • Assist with ongoing projects within the admission office, such as coordinating campus group visits, planning events, managing the admission travel calendar, and student workers.
  • Serve as a liaison to various offices on campus.
  • Participate in professional development activities with a special focus on the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
