About The Position

The Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) makes connections and creates experiences with the next generation of Sooners by supporting domestic and international freshman, transfer, and concurrent students throughout the application and decision process. Our team operates from Norman and across the state, nation, and world, partnering with faculty, staff, parents, counselors, and communities to provide guidance and resources to prospective students. Our goal is to build a vibrant OU community by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement, and community experiences. We seek individuals who exhibit integrity, care, intentionality, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to identify, attract, and enroll prospective students through recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Ability to serve as a key representative of the institution, building relationships with students, families, high school counselors, and community partners.
  • Ability to guide students through the admissions process, review applications, conduct interviews, and collaborate with the admissions team to make informed admission decisions.
  • Ability to plan and participate in recruitment events, maintain accurate records, and support college readiness initiatives within an assigned geographic region through targeted outreach, relationship building, and event participation.
  • Ability to serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment, providing personalized guidance and support throughout the admissions process.
  • Ability to advise students on admissions requirements, assist with application completion, and schedule individual or group advising sessions as needed.
  • Ability to maintain consistent and timely communication with prospective students via phone, email, text, and the institution's CRM system to ensure engagement and follow-up.
  • Ability to represent the institution at college fairs, high school visits, guest lectures, community events, and on-campus programs to promote awareness and increase interest.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and participate in on- and off-campus recruitment and yield events, including virtual and in-person information sessions and presentations for prospective students, families, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with high school counselors, community partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Ability to design and produce recruitment materials and promotional publications in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Ability to collaborate with department chairs and faculty to coordinate recruitment fairs and academic advising sessions.
  • Ability to evaluate a high volume of undergraduate applications using holistic review practices, applying institutional policies and procedures to assess academic credentials, essays, recommendation letters, and other supporting materials.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly communicate admissions policies related to first-time freshman, transfer credit, prior learning assessment, and residency to a wide range of audiences, including students, parents, counselors, and university staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal departments such as Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Student Services, and Admissions and Records to support a seamless transition for admitted students.
  • Ability to act as a liaison between the college and relevant internal units as well as local, regional, and national associations to ensure effective communication and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and execution of recruitment strategies and support marketing efforts through cross-functional project teams.
  • Ability to plan and manage recruitment-related projects and events, including student outreach, event logistics, and public relations initiatives.
  • Ability to train new admissions staff on application review processes, serving as the primary contact and mentor until trainees reach full proficiency.
  • Ability to stay current on institutional admissions policies, academic offerings, and campus resources.
  • Ability to effectively use the CRM system to manage prospective student data and interactions and to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ability to perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
