The Admission Counselor Athletics is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy as determined by the Director of Admissions focused on increasing undergraduate enrollment prospective student-athletes. Serving as the primary enrollment representative for an assigned recruitment territory, this position provides personalized guidance to prospective students and their families throughout the entire enrollment lifecycle—from inquiry through application, admission, matriculation and point of registration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software required
  • Valid Driver’s License required

  • As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of experience in sales/recruiting preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft administrative system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students-athletes and their families throughout the admissions process by providing personalized guidance from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Represent Benedictine University through high school visits, community college visits, college fairs, classroom presentations, campus events, information sessions, and individual appointments.
  • Deliver engaging presentations highlighting the University's academic programs, scholarships, student life, and enrollment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with high school counselors and other key individuals to generate prospective student interest and strengthen recruitment pipelines.
  • Proactively communicate with prospective students through phone, email, text messaging, virtual appointments, and CRM campaigns to encourage application completion, financial aid submission, campus visit attendance, registration, and enrollment.
  • Coordinate and conduct individualized campus visits and assist students through placement testing, academic advising, course registration, and onboarding activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while collaborating with Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Student Life, and other campus partners to ensure a seamless enrollment experience.
  • Review and facilitate admissions decisions for prospective student-athletes by evaluating applications, supporting documentation, and enrollment readiness in alignment with institutional policies and timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with Athletics staff and head coaches to provide regular updates on sport-specific applicant caseloads, ensuring accurate application records, timely decision-making, and visibility into student-athlete progression through the enrollment funnel.
  • Partner with coaches to communicate key scholarship information, including athletic-related gift aid, and ensure alignment between admissions, financial aid, and Athletics processes to support successful recruitment, enrollment, and student-athlete persistence.
  • Collaborate with Athletics staff to proactively support the persistence, engagement, and success of newly enrolled and continuing student-athletes.
  • Serve as a resource by connecting student-athletes with appropriate campus resources, including financial aid and academic support services, while partnering with Athletics to promote retention, academic progress, and timely degree completion.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, strategic planning sessions, professional development opportunities, and University events.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management leadership and campus partners to develop innovative recruitment strategies, evaluate enrollment trends, share best practices, and implement initiatives that support institutional enrollment goals and student success.
  • Working with student workers/student callers.
  • Collaborating with co-workers regarding new recruitment strategies, make suggestions to improve past strategies, and increase marketing opportunities.
