The Director of Transplant Services serves as the senior administrative leader for Hoag’s nationally recognized Kidney and Liver Transplant Programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in healthcare administration (preferably in an academic medical center) with multiple specialties and complexity driven populations is required
  • 3+ years of progressive management/leadership experience required.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills with diverse groups, including physicians, managers, and employees is required.
  • Established track record of success in administrative responsibilities to include medical staff relationships, financial planning, revenue cycle, contract negotiation, and human resource development and management required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or equivalent degree
  • 2+ years of experience in solid organ transplantation and multi-organ transplant experience preferred.
  • Previous Transplant Administrator experience preferred
  • Registered Nurse - RN (CA DCA)

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously evolve a forward-looking, multi-year strategic roadmap—identifying growth opportunities, program expansion, and new market positioning strategies
  • Champion initiatives that elevate Hoag’s transplant programs to destination status regionally and nationally
  • Lead payer contracting strategy, including Centers of Excellence designations and innovative carve-out agreements
  • Strengthen Hoag’s reputation as a preferred transplant provider through strategic partnerships and value-based positioning
  • Redesign and optimize the full transplant journey—from referral and evaluation through long-term follow-up
  • Ensure a seamless, patient-centered experience that delivers exceptional clinical and satisfaction outcomes
  • Architect scalable staffing models and care delivery frameworks to support sustained program growth
  • Align resources, workflows, and technology to maximize efficiency and access to care
  • Oversee the Transplant Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and chair the Transplant Quality Council
  • Benchmark performance against SRTR data and national leaders, proactively driving improvements to maintain top-tier outcomes
  • Ensure continuous readiness for CMS and OPTN surveys with zero-surprise compliance
  • Lead the implementation of evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining operational stability
  • Serve as Hoag’s primary liaison with the local Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), advancing organ utilization and fostering a culture of donation
  • Represent Hoag on regional and national stages, including OPTN committees and professional associations, influencing the future of transplant care
  • Lead outreach and education initiatives to expand the transplant referral network
  • Build strong relationships with referring physicians, health systems, and community stakeholders
