Administrator, Oracle Applications Database

KYOCERA Document Solutions America, Inc.•Fairfield, NJ
•$84,000 - $104,000

About The Position

The Oracle Applications Database Administrator supports the technical stack underpinning the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), including the application tier and associated database infrastructure. The position handles installation, configuration, patching, cloning, workflow administration, and backup and recovery for the EBS environment. Its scope is specific to EBS rather than the organization’s entire database landscape, while requiring a strong foundation in database administration and technical expertise. The role supports the reliability, performance, security, and continuity of the EBS environment. It serves as a technical escalation resource for infrastructure and application-stack issues, maintains documentation and operational procedures, and works with the Oracle EBS Systems Administrator, business users, vendors, and other IT teams. The position participates in an on-call rotation and supports critical incidents, scheduled maintenance, and project implementations, primarily during advance-scheduled evening or weekend windows when possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • At least 4 years of progressive Oracle DBA experience, including at least 2 years specifically in an EBS Applications DBA capacity, within a medium to large organization.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AD utilities, RMAN, and Data Guard.
  • Working SQL and PL/SQL skills sufficient for troubleshooting and workflow diagnostics.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions and business continuity/disaster recovery programs.
  • Experience supporting security initiatives, including patch management and vulnerability remediation for the EBS technical stack.
  • Experience with scripting or automation to support patching, cloning, or monitoring processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills, including planning for scheduled off-hours change windows and on-call responsibilities.
  • Strong written, verbal, documentation, and presentation skills, including communicating technical risk and maintenance-window impact to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to support multiple initiatives and adapt to changing business priorities.

  • Experience with an ITSM platform and operational frameworks such as ITIL, Agile, or COBIT.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working in a multinational organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the Oracle EBS application stack and underlying database, including installation, patching, cloning, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the EBS application and database tiers for reliability, performance, and security.
  • Execute EBS patching using Applications DBA utilities such as adpatch/adop or current equivalents, including patch testing, application, and post-patch validation.
  • Perform multi-node EBS cloning for environment refreshes, upgrade testing, and disaster-recovery testing.
  • Configure and tune Concurrent Manager; administer Request Sets and Request Groups; and troubleshoot Workflow and Notification Mailer issues beyond first-line triage.
  • Support security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and patch management for the EBS technical stack.
  • Configure and execute RMAN backups for the EBS database, perform periodic recovery testing, and configure and maintain Data Guard or equivalent disaster-recovery replication.
  • Serve as a technical escalation resource for EBS infrastructure and application-stack issues beyond Oracle EBS Systems Administrator scope.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and high-availability/disaster-recovery runbooks for EBS technical administration.
  • Collaborate with the Oracle EBS Systems Administrator, business users, vendors, and other IT teams on operational needs and EBS-related projects.
