About The Position

Oversees and directs the operation of Resident Services, a division of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc., that provides continuity of services to the Sisters of the Holy Cross at Saint Mary’s. The operations overseen are life enrichment, support services, nursing and a health clinic, therapies, education and training, administration and motor services. Creates and maintains an organizational environment/culture consistent with the mission, core values and Person Directed Living (PDL) philosophy – an environment that is collaborative and accountable. Within a collegial process with various levels of Congregation leadership, participates in establishing divisional direction and strategies, plans and programs, and develops and administers the approved budget to meet the overall goals of the organization. Maintains best practices in the standards of care; supervision/coaching of direct reports; and participates in hands-on daily operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Understands, embraces and models the concept of Person Directed Living (PDL) in building organizational relationships.
  • Is comfortable and competent in relationship building with the Sisters of the Holy Cross, those in leadership and those under the care of Resident Services.
  • Disciplined executive understanding and application of the principles of accountability, delegation, and coaching supervision.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people: Sisters, nursing, care partners, therapists, Sister leaders, etc.
  • Creative and innovative problem solving. Is a continuous learner.
  • Self-aware – knowledgeable of one’s values, personality, needs, habits, emotions, strengths and weaknesses. Open to feedback. Cares deeply about the people they serve, both Sisters and staff members.   • Hands-on. Responds to needs when they are present in the course of daily operations (to assist not only the Sisters, but interdisciplinary staff members).
  • Demonstrates understanding of the effects of the aging process (including cognitive, mobility, vision and hearing changes).
  • Demonstrates effective listening/communication skills with all members of the organization.
  • Develops relationships of integrity.
  • Develops relationships and social engagement with Sisters.
  • Ensures confidentiality in all Sister-related matters.
  • Advanced degree, advanced degree in process, or certification in administration/leadership in nursing, social work, or related field within a continuum care community. Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 years in health care leadership or related field required; gradual increased management responsibilities in planning and/or operations within a continuum care community or similar setting.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a well-managed division (Resident Services) within the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc.
  • Plans, organizes and directs programs and services within Resident Services.
  • Knowledgeable of all functions within Resident Sisters and knowledgeable in the relationship of Resident Services within the broader organization of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with all direct reports and management within the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc.
  • Provides for clear lines of responsibility and accountability within all departments under Resident Services.
  • Executes decisions in a timely, collaborative manner.
  • Supervises and coaches direct reports.
  • Oversees hiring, training, scheduling, purchasing, management of budgets and compliance with standards of care within Resident Services.
  • Maintains effective relationships.
  • Regularly evaluates results of the effectiveness of the division of Resident Services.
  • Establishes and operates within the approved annual budget.
  • Cooperates with other directors within the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Inc. to ensure proper fulfillment of functions, responsibilities, authority, accountability, and relationships.
  • Maintains membership in and attends meetings/seminars in professional organizations.
