About The Position

Memorial Middle School is seeking a caring, collaborative, and aspiring leader to join our team as a Middle School Administrator Intern for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on leadership experience while working alongside experienced administrators to support students, staff, and families. Through mentorship, professional development, and real-world leadership opportunities, you will play an active role in promoting a positive school climate, supporting instructional excellence, and helping ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. The position is a one-year assignment, and the individual selected will be reassigned to an opening in the District at the conclusion of the 2026-2027 school year based on qualifications and District needs. Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Master’s degree program eligible for degree completion and South Dakota principal certification within two years of hire.
  • A minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the best educational practices and effective schools research.
  • Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing.
  • Intermittent walking, talking, writing.
  • Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, fingers, and hands are required.
  • Post-Offer Criminal Background Check Required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in an approved program which qualifies for principal certification with the state of South Dakota.
  • Undergraduate or graduate emphasis in Special Education.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in Leadership Development Institute sessions and activities.
  • Assists in the supervision of staff assigned to the building.
  • Conducts drop-in observations and works with teachers to improve student achievement.
  • Assists the principal with chairing IEP meetings.
  • Assists the principal in providing a safe and secure environment for learning.
  • Assists the principal with student discipline and behavior management.
  • Communicates with staff, parents, students and the school community.
