About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is a full time, ON-SITE, located in Akron, Ohio at the FirstEnergy Corporation Headquarters. This position is accountable for planning, coordinating and performing various administrative and tax compliance activities. The selected candidate may be offered a position within the same job family, at a level that is lower than what was posted. This will be determined based upon the results of the interview process which considers the candidate’s skills, work history, experience level, and other relevant qualifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 0- 7 years work experience required
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must pass the Company’s EEI Support and Administrative Selection System (SASS) test
  • Ability to follow established practices, procedures, and instructions
  • Produce technical administrative work products in a thorough, timely and accurate manner
  • Demonstrates attention to detail by consistently delivering timely and accurate work product
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with ability to independently prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline is preferred.
  • experience in an administrative role preferred
  • advanced Excel and Copilot skills preferred
  • Experience with accounts payable, supply chain, other financial disciplines and process improvements is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP system accounts payable, procurement, and general accounting modules is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience making recommendations for process improvements when appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of administrative assignments requiring initiative, judgment, and excellent organizational skills
  • Compiling, sorting, and analyzing data necessary to support the preparation and filing of various tax returns, including IRS Forms 1099 and state gross receipts taxes
  • Responding timely to requests from business units and third-party vendors for various income and sales tax forms and exemption certificates
  • Supporting tax staff with routine, day-to-day administrative activities, including mailing tax returns, typing letters, organizing files, scanning documents, creating requisitions, and processing invoices and tax bills for payment
  • Providing administrative support to Tax Management, including travel arrangement coordination, expense report processing, and scheduling meetings
  • Taking initiative to solve problems and bring issues to closure
  • Demonstrating a willingness to question established procedures and processes
  • Demonstrating sound internal and external customer service
  • Consistently anticipating and delivering results
  • Proactively working to ensure knowledge is transferred to others
  • Demonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety; maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements
