About The Position

Works under general supervision of Manager A while coordinating assignments as they relate to the successful operation of the Information and Assistance (I&A) program. This position is part of the CHOICES (Aging Commission) program.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in an administrative or clerical health care capacity; and a high school diploma; OR Two (2) years of experience in an administrative or clerical health care capacity; and two (2) years of college study (60 semester hours or 72 quarter hours).
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
  • Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's license or secure one upon date of employment.
  • Must have daily access to an operable automobile.
  • Must meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
  • Must pass criminal background check to include: TBI/FBI Criminal, Probation & Parole Registry, Tennessee Abuse Registry, Tennessee Felony Offender Registry and the National and Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of business English and math.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, co-workers and other departments.
  • All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as point of contact for program partner Managed Care Organizations.
  • Prepares reports as they relate to the CHOICES program.
  • Contact people referred to the program to obtain the information needed to complete referral for services.
  • Verifies potential enrollees through the Tennessee Anytime website.
  • Maintains spreadsheets of documented enrollee activity for record keeping purposes.
  • Maintains accurate records of applicants who decline services.
  • Assists with the keeping minutes of CHOICES regional quarterly meetings.
  • Coordinates and distributes referrals to appropriate assessment/service coordination program.
  • Files and maintains file cabinets and program materials for future use.
  • Retrieves documents and distributes telephone voicemail messages to appropriate staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
