Reporting to the Bridge Manager, a Bridge Administrative Support Technician is responsible for providing key assistance to various areas of the Bridge Division. This role involves supporting the maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction of bridge structures and associated infrastructure, while also contributing to the success of Volker Stevin Highways Ltd. through superior customer service, collaboration, and the combined efforts of the entire team. The position plays a crucial role in both the technical and administrative aspects of bridge-related projects.

Requirements

  • Business Certificate/Diploma (1 or 2-year program) or High School Diploma with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years administrative experience or equivalent training.
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and ERP is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Bridge Construction and Highway Construction Specifications, OHS Regulations, and Provincial Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain open communication with the Bridge Administration Technician and Bridge Manager on public and government-related topics.
  • Ensure strong organization within all aspects of the Bridge Division.
  • Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding internal operations and communications.
  • Proactively provide relevant support beyond outlined responsibilities.
  • Take a solution-driven approach to administrative tasks and challenges.
  • Demonstrate high reliability, punctuality, and an understanding of role expectations.
  • Understand and manage Alberta Transportation (TEC) and financial systems.
  • Develop and update templates, forms, and technical documents, including Work Orders and inspection photos.
  • Assist with tender pricing, job costing, and invoicing.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including payment details and generating invoices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory lists and coordinate materials with Alberta Transportation (TEC).
  • Support financial management, including contracts, equipment tracking, procurement, and job cost tracking.
  • Act as the front-line contact for public relations regarding billing and payments with (TEC) and other municipal bodies.
  • Maintain field site visit and inspection information databases.
  • Provide relief for other business areas within Volker as needed.
