The purpose of this classification is to provide specialized administrative support for division or department. While the essential functions are similar to those of an Administrative Coordinators, Administrative Specialists typically focus more narrowly on one or more aspects of the work, whereas Administrative Coordinators are broadly responsible for all administrative support functions in a division or department. Work often requires a knowledge of departmental operations and procedures, but can be learned by a modest amount of time in the job.
