The School of Social Work is seeking a dedicated and experienced Administrative Specialist III.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and university partners

Responsibilities

  • Advise prospective, current, returning, and transfer students regarding academic requirements, degree completion plans, course selection, and university policies.
  • Assist students in understanding program curricula, prerequisites, graduation requirements, and academic milestones.
  • Develop individualized academic plans to support student success and timely degree completion.
  • Provide proactive outreach to students regarding registration, academic standing, graduation requirements, and other key deadlines.
  • Monitor student academic progress, identify students who may be experiencing academic difficulties, and connect them with the Director of Student Recruitment and Services and appropriate university resources.
  • Audit and evaluate student records to determine progress toward degree requirements.
  • Compare transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements.
  • Review academic records to identify outstanding requirements and potential barriers to timely degree completion.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and advising notes.
  • Interpret and communicate university, college, and School of Social Work policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of accreditation standards, curriculum requirements, and University regulations affecting student progression.
  • Provide students with accurate information regarding academic policies, program requirements, and educational pathways.
  • Support the implementation and communication of curriculum and program changes affecting students.
  • Ensure advising practices are consistent with applicable University and School of Social Work policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports and analyze student data related to retention, progression, academic standing, and graduation.
  • Monitor trends in student progression and identify opportunities to improve student success and retention.
  • Maintain accurate advising and student-support information to assist with planning, assessment, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in recruitment events, open houses, orientation programs, and information sessions for prospective and incoming students.
  • Provide prospective and current students with information regarding academic programs, admission pathways, degree requirements, and career and educational opportunities.
  • Support student organizations and school-sponsored events as needed.
  • Promote student engagement and connection to School of Social Work and University resources.
  • Work closely with faculty, program directors, practicum education staff, admissions personnel, the college Office of Academic Assistance (OAA), and university offices to support student success.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to address student academic concerns and facilitate appropriate referrals and interventions.
  • Collaborate with community partners and professional organizations when appropriate.
  • Serve on school, college, and university committees as assigned.
  • Provide administrative and student-support assistance to the School of Social Work as needed.
  • Assist with special projects, programs, and initiatives that support student success and academic operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
