About The Position

Position will serve as Administrative Specialist I in the Chatham County Maintenance Office located in Siler City. Duties include answering telephone; radio communications; greeting customers; maintaining department's inventory for items stocked; processing payroll and invoices in SAP; operating computer for data entry, typing correspondence and reports such as accident and worker's compensation; and other duties as assigned by the County Maintenance Engineer. Position is subject to work nights and weekends as needed during inclement weather.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Applicant must have the ability to work independently
  • Prioritize daily tasks
  • Independently process technical information
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Operate copy machine, fax machine, multi-line telephone system, and scanner.
  • Applicant should be able to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form in order to communicate with the public, DOT employees, and governmental officials.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel
  • Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports
  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws
  • Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading
