About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide daily assistance including administrative and technical support to the Unit Manager of Right of Way as well as the entire R/W unit. Additionally, the position is responsible for monitoring Central Office right-of-way staff duties to ensure that efficiency levels are at a continuum. This involves work assignments with the Chief Engineer’s office, Director of Field Support, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Director of Human Resources, Fiscal Section, N.C. General Assembly, outsourcing consultant teams, municipal and county offices. Also included is the Secretary of Transportation’s office and support staff, all other sections/divisions with the Department of Transportation, and the general public of North Carolina as well as other states.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in computer software programs (MS Office Word and Excel), Internet, Outlook, SAP
  • Experience in the use of a variety of office machines (computer, copier, fax, scanner, etc.)
  • Customer service experience, including problem solving and resolving customer issues
  • Experience reviewing and processing claims, invoices and incoming/outgoing mail
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while coordinating work of direct management and other support staff

Responsibilities

  • Managing and scheduling of the Right of Way Review Board and the Secretary’s Review Board.
  • Entering data into SAP as needed for claim finalization.
  • Assisting with any coordination with the AG’s office including discovery verifications, and other documents related to mediated settlements or trials.
  • Receiving agent and firm surveys and other right-of-way communications, logging those communications and keeping a database of relevant right-of-way information and schedules.
  • Organizing and handling the planning of statewide supervisor meetings including accommodation, facility and IT assistance.
  • Scheduling and setting up interviews.
  • Assisting the Administrative Specialist II when needed.
