About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Justice, led by the Attorney General of North Carolina, represents the state, state agencies, and elected officials, and defends the rights of the people of North Carolina. The Department handles all state criminal appeals cases and assists district attorneys with complex criminal cases at their request. Additionally, the Department of Justice includes the North Carolina State Crime Lab, the North Carolina Justice Academy, and the Sheriffs’ and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Divisions. The primary purpose of the Division is to carry out the Attorney General’s duty to enforce the State’s laws prohibiting unfair or deceptive commercial practices, unfair methods of competition, and combinations and conspiracies in restraint of trade. This Division responds to questions from the general public and state officials relating to consumer matters. The Division mediates many of the complaints received and investigates and litigates violations of law.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Processing of incoming correspondence and documents for scanning into electronic files.
  • Data entering of hardcopy complaint forms and correspondence into a database.
  • Creating and naming of PDF documents.
  • Proofing and prepping of outgoing letters and envelopes for mailing.
  • Filing, retrieving, archiving and destroying of division files.
  • Providing administrative support to Administrative Officer II, Complaint Program Manager, Division Director, and Consumer Protection Specialists.
  • Communicate with Office Administrator supply needs such as envelopes, paper, rubber bands, other supplies.
  • Communicate with Office Administrator any issues with scanner, printer, fax or copier.
  • When necessary serve as backup to phone staff.
  • When necessary assist Public Records Fulfillment Assistant.
