About The Position

This position serves the clinical laboratory in a role like an administrative assistant, where supervisory and subordinate job duties are collaborated for the effective and efficient operation of the laboratory. The responsibility for purchase and supply, composition of records, forms and reports, workload recording, receipt, and dispatch of specimens, and maintaining files for efficient retrieval of patient data, are vital to the medical care and treatment of the patients served. This position also coordinates, assembles, evaluates, collates, records, and disseminates all the reports, information, and records in a retrievable manner so that daily and/or monthly reports may be assembled, typed, and disseminated to interdepartmental and extra departmental customers, of all information which is the responsibility of the laboratory department. This includes but is not limited to, Laboratory’s Quality Improvement Plan, Performance Management System, record keeping for OSHA, Equipment Management Program, Personnel Training Requirements and Records, and the Laboratory Information System.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to a program or area of specialization.
  • Ability to explain and interpret information to clients/customers and staff.
  • Ability to compile, assimilate, and organize both printed and electronic information with the knowledge to apply data collection, storage, organization, manipulation and/or analysis of data.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
  • Clinical laboratory experience and medical terminology.
