About The Position

The Georgia State Counseling Center is committed to ensuring access to mental health support services. Through innovative practices and effective intervention, over the past six years, the center has increased access to serve 65 percent more students. The center conducts more than 8,000 appointments each year. The primary mission of the Georgia State Counseling Center (GSUCC) is to support Georgia State University students in achieving their personal and educational goals by enhancing their mental and emotional health, interpersonal relationships, and academic performance through accessible, professional, culturally competent, and empirically supported services. The GSUCC is committed to promoting inclusion, with services designed to provide respectful treatment to students of every background. The staff also provides assistance to faculty, administrators, and staff in assisting students in distress, enhancing the learning process, and providing guest lecturers for classes. The GSUCC is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, health educators and a nutritionist in the Mind-Body Clinic. The GSUCC staff is diverse in many ways, including age, gender, race, sexual identity, religious background, and national origin. The Counseling Center is seeking (1) Administrative Specialist I - (Temp) to join the already awesome team taking the Buckhead Center Operational Services Department to the next level of excellence!

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of administrative experience; or high school diploma or GED and five years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency in office systems and scheduling platforms

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate front office operations and manage scheduling for Same Day Consultations (SDCs), initial appointments, and follow-up services.
  • Ensure adherence to established procedures for client check-in, intake, and service setup.
  • Provide guidance and support to front desk staff and assist with training on policies and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot scheduling issues and resolve client concerns, escalating as needed.
  • Maintain waitlist processes, including communication and documentation.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to students, visitors, and campus partners.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and direct clients appropriately.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, scanning, and maintaining records.
  • Support overall office operations and assist with additional duties as needed.
