About The Position

OPEN TO ALL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting certified eligible list may be used to staff several current and future vacancies for this position/function only. GRADE 13 LOCATION OF POSITION Annapolis, MD POSITION DUTIES The incumbent will work collaboratively with a team to process post-payroll adjustments for three (3) payroll systems [i.e. Regular, University of MD, and Contractual]. The related accounting activity is reconciled to ensure accurate financial transactions are processed for the state agencies. System controls are maintained and used for various payroll needs. Data is used to reconcile W-2 Wage and Tax Statements, 1042-S Foreign Person's U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding, state wage returns, and other governmental reporting. This position partners with the Accounting Team to resolve out-of-balance issues tied to employees' Masterfile records. This position also performs quality control verifications for garnishments, child support, federal levies, and state tax liens that are processed by third-party solution ADP.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Basic Knowledge and Experience in CICS & RSTARS Payment Processing, General Ledger, and Reporting.
