About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is hiring an Administrative Nurse for the Reception and Treatment Center. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of nursing services within a correctional facility. The NDCS employs nearly 2,300 team members across nine institutions statewide, housing approximately 5,800 inmates. The department is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA) and focuses on inmate programming, education, physical and behavioral health care, and re-entry services. Candidates are expected to embody the NDCS values of integrity, respect, compassion, growth, and excellence.

Requirements

A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska.
One year of relevant experience.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Must submit to a security background check.
Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical examination and a drug test.
Must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' Pre-service Training Program.

Nice To Haves

Experience in assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others.
Remaining current with Nebraska RN Licensure and annual training to ensure competency and professionalism in the work environment.

Responsibilities

Supervises nursing and direct care staff in the delivery of nursing services within a correctional facility.
Consults with clinical staff in coordinating individual inmate patient care treatment plans.
Resolves conflicts between patients and employees as well as personnel related problems.
Administers nursing service activities.
Performs nursing tasks in emergencies.
Completes performance evaluations on subordinate nursing service employees.
