The Medical Assistant (MA) Admin role will be responsible for the coordination of patient care activities. This position requires a versatile professional who can seamlessly transition between clinical and administrative responsibilities. The MA will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence. Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • Minimum 1 yr experience as a Medical Assistant
  • MA clinical or Administrative experience
  • Work Experience Relevant Work Experience

Responsibilities

  • Patient medical history information
  • Navigating electronic health records system (EPIC)
  • Scheduling and following-up with appointments
  • Assisting with medication fill and refill requests
  • Checking for prior authorizations
  • Scheduling tests, procedures, consultations, and other in basket types as assigned
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and EKGs
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies
  • Manage and update patient medical record
  • Verify and update patient record to confirm that medical records are correct and up to date, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to healthcare providers
  • Collect and document all necessary information related to prior authorization process
  • Complete request forms with accuracy and timeliness
  • Track and document the status of prior authorization requests in the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Monitor the progress of prior authorization request and follow up with insurance companies as needed
  • Address scheduling conflicts, cancellations, and other issues quickly; working collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to find suitable solutions
