This job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered by the WV Division of Personnel merit system. Handle cases assigned in a proficient and timely manner. Conducts prehearing conferences and evidentiary hearings for tax cases. Researching and interpreting statutory, regulatory, and precedent decisions relating to West Virginia tax law. Analyzing the law and evidence from hearings to evaluate how a case should conclude and draft a formal decision. Assign and review work of the administrative staff. Assist with the review of amended agency procedural rules. Assist with the review and proofreading of new case petition and prehearing statement forms. Assist the Chief Administrative Law Judge with reviewing the new property tax statutes, as well as with the creation and revision of agency policies and procedures. Assist with overseeing administrative staff and maintaining effective workplace. Attend Continuing Legal Education seminars as well as the Administrative Law Judge Subcommittee Meetings.
