About The Position

The Division I Administrative Fire Captain recruitment is an internal recruitment for current, non-probationary OCFA Fire Captains. This position serves as a liaison with city, county, and state officials, represents the OCFA at various meetings and public events, and assists in planning, directing, and coordinating programs and activities. The role involves researching and analyzing technical data, preparing written staff reports and oral presentations, and staffing the Department Operations Center (DOC) during major incidents. Administrative Fire Captains may also participate in the Department Safety Officer program and the on-call program.

Requirements

  • Current, non-probationary OCFA Fire Captain
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with others
  • Strong written communication and computer skills
  • Must include all current, relevant OCFA work experience in the application.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison with city, county, and state officials as directed.
  • Represent the OCFA at various meetings and public events.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and coordinating a variety of programs and activities.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret technical data.
  • Prepare written staff reports and oral presentations covering a variety of policy and procedural issues.
  • Staff the Department Operations Center (DOC) during major incidents.
  • Perform other miscellaneous administrative duties as necessary or required.
  • Participate in the Department Safety Officer program.
  • Participate in the on-call program.

  • Eligible for either a 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule, at the discretion of the Division Chief.
  • Eligible for 7.5% Staff Assignment Pay (SAP) and/or 10% Staff Incentive Pay (SIP).
