About The Position

At Northbay Health, the Administrative Fellowship position is designed to be a learning, exposure and active work for the Fellow in a real-life healthcare environment. During the program, Fellows will be assigned to one business unit for the entire fellowship and will have an opportunity to move from project participant to serving as an accountable program owner in a designated area. The fellow will lead work groups and interdisciplinary teams, testing leadership in real-life business situations. The Fellow will interact with staff, physicians and leaders in the organization, participating in activities and initiatives related to operations practice and supporting strategic initiatives as they relate to continuity of service, compliance, regulatory and professional standards, fostering collaborative interdisciplinary relationships. Additional duties will be assigned to the Fellow based on level of understanding of practice management responsibilities. The fellow will deliver multiple projects over the course of fellowship, ultimately completing a Capstone project assigned by an executive vice president. This program is identified to foster promising candidates the opportunity to develop skills in operations management, strategic implementation, and work in dynamic live situations in the healthcare operations and corporate environments.

Requirements

  • Completion of a residency program in an acute care hospital within the past 2 years.
  • Candidate application (Oracle) including current CV/Resume required
  • Two letters of recommendation (from academic, personal and required one professional)
  • Personal Statement – Why are you interested in Healthcare Administration? What interest you in doing an Administrative Fellowship with Northbay Health?
  • Completion of Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or other related master’s degree program before the fellowship start date.
  • Prior completion of a minimum one year residency program in an acute care hospital.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook requires excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills.
  • Must have superior critical thinking skills and be open to learning.
  • Individual must be highly collaborative, be willing to assume new responsibilities as needed, accept accountability, build effective relationships, and operate effectively under pressure.
  • Confidence, integrity, skilled communications, and a sense of humor are also essential.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated success in creating novel solutions to complex problems.
  • Flexible, adaptable, persistent, passionate, management skills, facilitation skills.
  • Maintains the utmost confidentiality related to items from the work setting.

  • Healthcare industry experience that may include an internship, externship, fellowship or applicable employment preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use the knowledge gained during administrative residency to demonstrate measurable results
  • Lead one or more enterprise-level initiatives linked to system priorities
  • Take ownership of projects and accountability for measurable outcomes
  • Participate in or chair committees, task forces or steering groups
  • Build and share operational dashboards or leadership performance scorecards
  • Partner with senior leaders and present at leadership meetings
  • Contribute to strategic planning and financial reviews
  • Lead work groups and interdisciplinary teams
  • Mentor administrative residents and early-career staff
  • Deliver multiple projects over the course of fellowship, ultimately completing a Capstone project assigned by an executive vice president.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
