About The Position

A large, high-volume hospital system in Houston is seeking an experienced Administrative Director of Emergency Services to lead operations across the main Emergency Department and multiple Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs). Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 3+ years of recent experience as an Acute Care ED Director or ED Manager (large-volume preferred).
  • Demonstrated success leading high-acuity, high-volume emergency operations.

  • Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related field).
  • Experience overseeing multiple ED locations or complex organizational structures.
  • Proven record of measurable performance improvements and operational achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor and standardize clinical practice to reduce variation and improve efficiency.
  • Drive throughput strategies, including capacity planning, flow coordination, admissions, and discharges.
  • Oversee nursing practice standards, policies, and service expectations.
  • Advance a consistent, exceptional patient experience across all emergency care locations.
  • Use patient feedback and performance metrics to guide improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with patient experience teams to roll out service excellence strategies.
  • Build a culture of engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Mentor and develop managers, supervisors, and emerging leaders.
  • Implement retention and workforce stability strategies.
  • Ensure staffing models support safe, effective patient care.
  • Partner with executives and physician leadership to expand emergency services.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, new service lines, and competitive differentiation.
  • Stay current on market trends, reimbursement, and healthcare innovations.
  • Lead annual budget planning and monitor financial performance.
  • Manage labor resources, productivity, and premium pay.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure appropriate use of supplies, technology, and equipment.
