About The Position

The District Court is dedicated to the administration of justice in a fair, impartial, and timely manner. As a gateway to justice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the District Court aims to provide communities with a safe, accessible, and respectful environment. The District Court operates with integrity, competence, and a commitment to excellence to foster public trust in the judicial system. This position supervises staff in an assigned office and performs administrative work to support office operations. It provides administrative support and assistance to department personnel and the general public, leads the unit's day-to-day operations, and takes a leading role in developing new programs and projects within the department. The role involves entering, maintaining, and managing data, documents, and records, and may include responsibilities related to hiring, training, and other human resources tasks.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Four (4) years of related work experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment and technology including computers and applicable software

  • Knowledge of Departmental and court policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Provides project management and oversees special initiatives within the division.
  • Supports a variety of hiring activities conducted by the Human Resources Department.
  • Participates in all activities related to development, implementation, and subsequent monitoring of operations and projects.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as document editing, taking meeting minutes, answering telephones, and preparing reports.
  • Prepares complex and detailed documents.
  • Maintains department records and drafts routine correspondence.
  • Analyzes statistics and develops new databases to assist in program administration.
  • Prepares reports on various administrative activities.
  • Acts as a liaison and provides technical advice to other offices, departments, the public, and outside agencies.
  • Participates in the development of operating policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Provides assistance in the hiring, onboarding, and training process of lower level employees.
  • Performs other duties as required.
