The Administrative Assistant serves as a vital member of the Human Factors & Behavioral Neurobiology Department, providing high-level administrative and operational support to the Department Chair, Associate Chair, and faculty. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day functioning of the department, which oversees two undergraduate degree programs (B.S. in Human Factors and B.S. in Aerospace Physiology), a Master of Science in Human Factors, and a Ph.D. in Human Factors. The position is responsible for coordinating and managing a wide range of academic and administrative tasks, including faculty support, academic scheduling, records management, and event coordination. The Administrative Assistant also supports the department’s science laboratories and sponsored research initiatives by facilitating procurement, scheduling, and compliance activities. A key aspect of the role includes serving as the first point of contact for students, visitors, and external stakeholders. This individual will triage inquiries, direct students to appropriate advisors or faculty, and foster a welcoming and professional environment within the department office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to solving problems in a dynamic academic setting.
