About The Position

Incumbent serves as Administrative Assistant for Community Corrections, responsible for performing various clerical functions in assisting department personnel and the public.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of department policies and procedures and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy, and properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, typewriter, calculator, and copier.
  • Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and appropriately respond to constructive criticism.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, related agencies, Department of Corrections, program participants, vendors, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
  • Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
  • Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephone and greets office visitors, including providing information and assistance, answering questions, taking messages, or forwarding/directing to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains participant files, including adding/deleting participants as needed, filing documents, entering data on computer, and generating and disseminating related reports monthly or as needed.
  • Performs various clerical duties as assigned or as needed, such as preparing correspondence and other documents, filing, comparing prices and ordering office supplies, collecting/receipting payments, and assisting department personnel as requested.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
