About The Position

The College of Humanities, Education and the Arts (CHEA) is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to support the smooth operation of academic units and programs within the college. This vital team member will assist the Dean’s Assistant and Division Leads in maintaining efficient and welcoming administrative support for students, faculty, and staff. The Administrative Assistant position supports Seattle Pacific University’s mission by contributing to a Christ‑centered learning and working community committed to academic excellence, service, and engagement with the world. In this role, the employee brings their skills, gifts, and professional expertise to work that matters—serving students, colleagues, and the broader University community in ways that reflect SPU’s values and purpose. To that end, all University employees are required to be aligned with and supportive of SPU's Statement of Faith and its derivative policies and lifestyle expectations.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general office technology.
  • A proactive, service-oriented approach to administrative support.
  • A personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm about supporting SPU’s mission, alignment with the University’s Statement of Faith, and a willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a college or university setting is a plus.
  • Supervisory experience (especially with student employees) is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Dean’s Assistant and Division Leads with scheduling, correspondence, meetings, and filing.
  • Serve as backup administrative support for the Dean when the Dean’s Assistant is unavailable.
  • Coordinate scheduling of shared spaces and board rooms.
  • Assist with preparation and logistics for meetings and events.
  • Maintain syllabi archives and faculty files.
  • Help coordinate directory updates, websites, and course catalogs.
  • Support hiring coordination.
  • Process financial documents and manage general office supply inventory.
  • Serve as liaison to custodial and facilities staff for maintenance and housekeeping needs.
  • Supervise student employees and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Complete additional special projects as assigned.
  • Support the Division of Education with tracking internships and practicums.
  • Provide administrative support to the Arts and Humanities Division Lead, and Education Division Lead as requested.
  • Supports the copier printers and classrooms in Peterson Hall.
  • Collecting and distributing mail.
