About The Position

Provide operational and administrative support to the COM Faculty and Staff. This role involves responding to inquiries, acting as a liaison between various university stakeholders, coordinating departmental activities and events, managing travel arrangements, preparing purchase orders, maintaining files, typing correspondence, and assisting with presentations. The position requires strict adherence to Liberty University policies and fostering a Christian model and Mission. Tier 2 responsibilities may include training other administrative assistants.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in administrative or clerical role (Tier 1).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and Blackboard.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously of a routine and complex nature.
  • Strong ability to work with and learn a variety of computer systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate time management skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, read, speak, and write English.
  • Possess public communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and clerical skills.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply knowledge of guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Tier 2).
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in administrative or clerical role (Tier 2).
  • Ability to coordinate and lead events independently, with minimal to no supervision (Tier 2).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries and function as liaison between faculty, administrators, staff, students, and other outside contacts.
  • Manage incoming calls and refer to appropriate individuals.
  • Coordinate activities and events for the assigned departments.
  • Coordinate travel and accommodations for conferences.
  • Coordinate all details of meetings, including distributing notices, coordinating refreshments, taking minutes, preparing materials, and distributing minutes.
  • Prepare purchase orders and check requests for assigned departments.
  • Maintain and update current files.
  • Type memos, letters, and minutes of meetings.
  • Open and distribute mail as requested.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations.
  • Perform other duties as requested and/or assigned.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission.
  • May help train other administrative assistants (Tier 2).
