About The Position

Labcorp is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. This role provides day-to-day administrative support for AP leadership and staff, managing departmental correspondence, calendars, and scheduling of meetings and conferences. The position involves preparing professional documents, coordinating logistics for various meetings and conferences, and facilitating communication between different departments to support case workflow. The Administrative Assistant will also track and assist with prioritization requests, support slide and block retrieval processes, and serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries to the AP department. Triage incoming communications and route appropriately, maintaining professional interactions with physicians, OR/GI staff, and external institutions. The role includes maintaining and organizing documentation in accordance with CAP, CLIA, LabCorp and Tufts Medical Center policies, supporting audit readiness, and assisting in updating and maintaining SOPs, logs, and administrative procedures. Additionally, the position supports tracking departmental metrics, quality indicators, and action items, participating in quality initiatives, SafetyNet reporting follow-up, and process improvement efforts. The Administrative Assistant will also maintain office supplies, coordinate service requests, assist with onboarding documentation and administrative training records, and support special projects as assigned by AP leadership.

Requirements

  • 1 year or more of administrative experience
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong documentation and tracking capabilities

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field
  • 1 year of more of experience within pathology or laboratory operations
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for AP leadership and staff
  • Manage departmental correspondence, calendars, and scheduling of meetings and conferences
  • Prepare professional documents including reports, memos, and presentations
  • Coordinate logistics for departmental meetings, tumor boards, and CPC conferences
  • Coordinate requests for case retrieval, including CPC and conference cases
  • Facilitate communication between accessioning, histology, and pathologists to support case workflow
  • Track and assist with prioritization requests as directed by leadership
  • Support slide, block, and archival material retrieval processes
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries to the AP department
  • Triage incoming communications (phone, email, in-person) and route appropriately
  • Maintain professional interactions with physicians, OR/GI staff, and external institutions
  • Maintain and organize documentation in accordance with CAP, CLIA, LabCorp and Tufts Medical Center policies
  • Support audit readiness through document tracking and record maintenance
