About The Position

St. Ignatius Parish, Hickory, is seeking candidates for an Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant is a welcoming presence for all who visit, work in, or call the office. This position works alongside the Business Manager, Office Manager & Director of Music.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to speak, read, and write clear English is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent discretion and judgment to serve all who seek assistance and to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers as well as effectively prioritize tasks and meet timelines.
  • Computer competency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn parish-specific database systems.
  • Must model Christian attitudes and behaviors and adhere to the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of the Catholic Church is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all who contact or visit the Parish Office and provide appropriate assistance, including intake process for baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
  • Provide support and fill-in as Receptionist as needed, answering all incoming calls and greeting all visitors to the parish office with a welcoming attitude as the first point of contact.
  • Maintain sacramental information in record books and electronic records.
  • Provide administrative support to the Parish Office, publishing weekly church bulletin, scheduling for music, and publishing programs for various ministries.
  • Prepare bookkeeping items, such as receipts and bills, according to appropriate accounting protocols.
  • Provide administrative support to the Business Office.
