About The Position

Performs administrative responsibilities, clerical and customer service work in support of the Assessing Department. Serves as the primary point of contact for residents, property owners, contractors, attorneys, and other stakeholders seeking assessment information. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Chief Assessor.

  • Over two (2) years of administrative experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a municipal government environment is desirable, but not necessary to be successful in this role.
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Completion of the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Offices Course 101 shall be completed within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists public and others daily, either on phone or in person with inquiries seeking information or guidance on various assessing questions.
  • Performs various routine clerical and administrative duties to assist the Chief Assessor in the efficient operation of the Assessor’s office.
  • Assists with the preparation of various data in the office for the Chief Assessor to review and sign for the various boards and public to prepare legal notices, such as abutters lists, property cards, and various related documents.
  • Maintains inventory and orders all supplies essential to the daily operation of the office.
  • Prepares mailing for all mandatory forms or applications to be mailed out sporadically through the fiscal year.
  • Maintain and review various requested lists and reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain and update departmental records for abatements, exemptions, and permits
  • Plans, coordinates, and schedules meetings and events as necessary
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
