About The Position

This is a highly responsible, complex, and confidential administrative position assisting the Chief Judge of the District Court. Professionalism is required in all aspects of this position. Work requires competence, independent judgment, discretion, a high degree of initiative balanced with common sense, and courteous interaction with the public and court stakeholders. Applicants should be detail-oriented and be able to prioritize and communicate well. This position requires flexibility and a good attitude.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an administrative assistant, secretary, or general clerical role.
  • Excellent organizational, filing, and scheduling skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to draft professional correspondence and communicate effectively with the public and other professionals.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal business hours as required.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality of work and court proceedings.
  • Undergo a criminal background check.
  • Complete a drug test.
  • Obtain a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of the offer letter.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years’ experience as an administrative assistant or secretary to a judge, attorney, executive, administrator, or similar professional in the public or private sector.
  • A working knowledge of the legal system.
