About The Position

The Administrative Assistant to Victim Services will provide support services to the Crime Victim Advocates. This position will inform victims of rights and resources, as well as act as a liaison between victim, prosecutor and court. This is a temporary position, not to exceed 1040 hours in a fiscal year. The first review of applications will be on September 22, 2026. Applications that are submitted after this date may or may not be considered for interviews. The posting may close without notice after the first review date.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience providing general office or clerical support
  • 1 month experience in a District Attorney’s Victim Assistance Program
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Candidates must have at least six months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation
  • Ongoing compliance with Federal, State and Local statutes
  • Experience in a professional office setting (ideally in a legal setting)
  • Knowledge of the juvenile and adult criminal justice system and legal procedure including state and local laws, legal terminology and court processes/procedures.
  • Experience or knowledge of victim advocacy
  • Knowledge of legal office practices, procedures, documents, terminology, victimology; court procedures and processes.
  • Skills in operating basic office equipment including a personal computer utilizing word processing software, multi-line telephone and copying machine.
  • Skills in interacting with people under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Ability to make decisions independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain records, reports and other data.
  • Ability to use good judgment in carrying out tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
