About The Position

The Administrative Assistant (Intern) will work as a team member within a specified operating unit of a selected department or entity. This on-the-job training opportunity is for individuals who are seeking to advance their knowledge within a career field, acquire new skills, and grow their professional network. The Intern will undertake activities and assigned projects of varying levels of complexity assisting with various clerical duties and special projects and initiatives. Chugach Tribal Services (CTS) administers this internship program on behalf of Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC). The program is specifically designed for Shareholders and Descendants of the Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC), with the goal of building long-term career pathways in cultural stewardship and heritage preservation.

Requirements

  • Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC) Shareholder or descendant of a CAC shareholder.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in or previously attended college with a 2.0 GPA (C or better).
  • Six (6) months of administrative/customer service experience.
  • Completed Talent Bank Profile at portal.chugachregion.com
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid state Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Knowledge Of: administrative procedures, policies and practices, operation of common office machinery including copiers, fax machines, computers.
  • Ability To: learn new technologies, maintain strict confidentiality; organize and prioritize projects and complete in accordance with established deadlines; adapts to changing priorities; perform duties in a timely manner; balance multiple tasks and deal with interruptions; communicate effectively orally, via phone, and in writing with a broad audience; demonstrates the ability to work with a team or independently with little or no supervision; maintain good working relationships with all coworkers and the general public; use good judgement; communicate with a variety of people in a courteous and professional manner; maintain attention to detail; and maintain a professional appearance and work presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the department under the mentorship of a senior staff member.
  • Undertakes tasks and projects designed to acquire new skills and knowledge in a career field.
  • Networks with Chugach leaders and shareholders when possible.
  • Maintains digital and hardcopy filling systems, including but not limited to creating, organizing, sorting, tracking, scanning, indexing, and uploading various records in accordance with retention policies.
  • Conducts periodic file reviews to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Supports community and regional shareholder events.
  • Attends all program participant meetings.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
