About The Position

The Administrative Assistant within the Department of Neuroscience provides broad administrative support to faculty, staff, and managers, and may also cover the front desk as needed. In this role, the individual uses calendaring software and is learning the basic functions of timekeeping, travel, expense, payables, and procurement systems, as well as becoming familiar with departmental reports and data. The position encounters some confidential documents and requires discretion, accuracy, and professionalism while building strong working relationships with support staff to accomplish tasks. Although assignments are structured, the Administrative Assistant may offer suggestions to improve processes. Responsibilities include supporting events planned by others and occasionally leading setup and teardown, assisting with communication activities such as assembling packets and mailings, and researching or creating simple travel itineraries. Through these duties, the individual contributes to efficient daily operations and effective coordination across the department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
