About The Position

CMU’s Computing Services department is searching for an Administrative Assistant I. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and exciting work environment. In this role you will provide administrative and secretarial/clerical assistance; prepare reports, assist with work flow in the department; may update departmental web content; perform related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 3 - 5 Years of Administrative Support Experience
  • 3-5 Years of Data Entry Experience
  • 3-5 Years of Office Management Experience
  • 3-5 Years of Word Processing Experience
  • Effective Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Effective Organization and Planning Skills
  • Effective Interpersonal Skills
  • Successful background check

Responsibilities

  • Maintains department calendar to ensue that time-critical issues such as provisional and annual performance reviews, performance management activities, group meetings, project reviews, etc. are identified and adhered to.
  • Produces, assembles and maintains reports and summaries.
  • Frequently required to respond directly to inquires and requests regarding this information.
  • Provides administrative and secretarial/clerical assistance.
  • Drafts memos and correspondence using office software.
  • Prepares and proof materials form rough drafts or dictation.
  • Serves as initial contact and liaison, providing information/coordination via phone or in person for the department/program.
  • Provides general office management: setting up and maintaining filing systems, initiating and processing purchase orders for office equipment and supplies, paying bills, etc.
  • Schedules meetings, conferences or travel arrangements; prepares itineraries or meeting agendas; ensures meeting materials are produced and available.
  • Other duties as assigned.
