Galveston College is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to support the Allied Health department. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of secretarial experience, office training, or related experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to structure work assignments for maximum quality and quantity with minimum supervision.
  • Cooperative attitude and dedication to the mission of the College.
  • Ability to communicate well with people and maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • General knowledge of College operations and procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer skills, including new software.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher in business administration, office management, or related field.
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in an educational or public-sector environment.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • Experience with database systems (such as Banner, Colleague, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting department budgets, purchase orders, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
