Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is searching for a full-time Administrative Assistant - Human Resources on its Minot, ND campus.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a background check, including criminal, abuse & neglect
  • Must pass a motor vehicle check
  • High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree preferred
  • One year of business-related work experience required

  • Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats, with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel), HR systems, and efficient with typing and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Ranch mission and vision, and its culture of purpose, caring, and learning, including the Ranch Culture in Action statements.
  • Support a trauma-informed-care environment.
  • Support the Ranch’s mission and organizational goals by assisting the human resources team with basic HR tasks, including data entry, record keeping, file maintenance, and recruitment support.
  • Follow administrative directives, policies and procedures.
  • Support other members of the team in carrying out organizational goals and activities.
  • Support sustainable excellence and continual improvement of the organization.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources team.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, and the highest level of integrity when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
  • Create a welcoming and professional environment by greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Demonstrate respect for all individuals and perspectives while supporting a trauma-informed, compassionate workplace.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, contractors, applicants, and callers.
  • Answer general inquiries and direct guests to the appropriate staff in person or via the switchboard.
  • Aid in the recruitment process including screenings, reference checks, and interview scheduling
  • Sort and distribute daily mail and assist with outgoing correspondence.
  • Manage office supplies and office equipment, including copiers, postage meters, and related administrative systems.
  • Maintain accurate HR files, records, databases, and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Enter and maintain employee and applicant data in ADP, the Ranch’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Support scheduling for HR meetings, interviews, orientations, trainings, and open enrollment sessions.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
  • Cross‑train with the Administrative Assistant – Finance to provide back‑up administrative support as needed.
  • Partner with the Finance Department to assist in maintaining internal controls.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding activities, including orientation preparation and coordination.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources team members and campus partners to support efficient workflows and office operations.
  • Support sustainable excellence and continual improvement of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
