The Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs is expected to model these values in daily responsibilities and interactions with students, staff, and campus partners. The Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs supports the overall operations of the Student Life division. The position provides administrative, front-office, and logistical support to the Assistant Provost for Student Affairs and the Student Life leadership team. Key duties include maintaining office operations, supporting student-facing services, coordinating events, managing communication channels, and assisting with division-wide projects. Because the office serves as a central point of contact for students, the role requires a welcoming, steady, and service-oriented presence.

Requirements

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and alignment with HCU’s mission and Ten Core Convictions
  • Experience with basic office software and willingness to learn university systems (Ad Astra, purchasing systems, website tools)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a student-facing or customer-service environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain office supplies, equipment, and shared operational resources
  • Manage the Husky Storehouse inventory, scheduling, and distribution
  • Oversee departmental purchasing, receipts, requisitions, and related documentation
  • Monitor and manage the Student Life email account
  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents, and visitors
  • Provide guidance and direction to students seeking campus resources
  • Support Student Leadership logistics and communication needs
  • Assist with Student Life events, including planning, set-up, hosting, and follow-up
  • Support Admissions events such as check-ins, tabling, and presentations
  • Provide administrative coordination for major university events such as Presidential Awards and Honors Convocation
  • Manage scheduling and calendar coordination using Ad Astra and future scheduling systems
  • Assist with Care Team communication, scheduling, and meeting support
  • Support the development, revision, and distribution of the Student Handbook
  • Assist with updates to Student Life and related webpages
  • Maintain records, files, and operational documentation
  • Provide administrative, communication, and logistical support for projects and responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Provost for Student Affairs and the Student Life leadership team, including periodic support across the Assistant Provost’s broader portfolio
