About The Position

Young Minds Daycare Center, sponsored by Fort Greene Council, Inc., has provided academic programs and childcare services since 1982. Our teachers and caregivers are committed to guiding, motivating, and preparing young learners for kindergarten and beyond. Through purposeful play and nurturing guidance, we encourage critical thinking, creativity, independence, and a lifelong passion for learning. This dual-role position provides daily administrative and operational support to the program and qualifies the incumbent to serve as the Educational Director Designee in the Educational Director's absence. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills, along with experience in early childhood education and the ability to provide leadership in a fast-paced childcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with at least two years of teaching experience in a preschool program; OR Master's degree in Early Childhood Education without NYS certification; or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education with NYS Birth-Grade 2 certification.
  • Associate Degree and 3 years office experience, OR 30 college credits and 1 year office experience; OR High School Diploma with 2 years of experience.
  • Must be computer literate, especially in Word, Excel, Publisher and Presentation.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with good English language written and oral skills.
  • Excellent customer relations required.
  • Must be organized and reliable and be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to keep and protect confidential information.
  • Must be dependable and consistently report to work on time.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced childcare environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize responsibilities and meet required deadlines.
  • Must meet applicable health requirements for childcare employment.
  • Fingerprinting and background clearance are required.
  • SCR clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous administrative or office experience preferred, particularly in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and general office equipment.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively with staff.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate reports, correspondence, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provide general administrative and office support to program staff and leadership.
  • Maintain and post notices, schedules, calendars, and program information.
  • Manage assigned projects and meet established deadlines.
  • Assist with ordering office and program supplies.
  • Submit and deliver required reports and documentation to designated agencies or departments.
  • Assist parents and guardians with applications, enrollment, and program information.
  • Assist with student enrollment and registration.
  • Maintain current student emergency cards and staff calling tree information.
  • Assist with entering and maintaining employee information in the PETS database.
  • Assist with preparations for meetings, staff development, inspections, and site visits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and employee information.
  • Serve as the Educational Director Designee when the Educational Director is unavailable.
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching staff during the Director's absence.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate classroom operations and program standards.
  • Assist with program assessments, inspections, and compliance requirements involving the DOE, DOH, FDNY, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate concerns involving children, parents, staff, safety, or program operations to the Educational Director and/or appropriate management.
  • Help ensure the program maintains a safe, professional, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.
