About The Position

Performs a wide variety of responsible office administrative duties; assists and supports aviation staff and monitors administrative activities of the aviation division.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of airport minimum standards for service providers.
  • Knowledge of aviation rules and regulations for tenants and users, and all other functions necessary for airport operations.
  • Knowledge of municipal government and departmental procedures and public relations
  • Skills in coordinating government operations in accordance with laws, regulations, ordinances and established policies.
  • Maintains costs accounts and appropriate expense ledgers.
  • Skill in lease administration, tenant/landlord relations, and quality customer service
  • Ability to make relative complex mathematical computations rapidly and accurately.
  • Thorough ability to understand business math, accounting procedures and terminology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material and documents, and able to accurately record business conducted in meeting environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and communications.
  • Five or more years in municipal government operations and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Any job offer made by the City is contingent upon the applicant passing the drug screening and background check.

  • Attendance of all City training courses and various conferences relating the airport operations is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains lease records and files and monitors for lease compliance and payments.
  • Reports airfield activities to Airport Manager and Federal Aviation Administration to meet compliance with grant assurances.
  • Communicates frequently with Air National Guard (ANG), Air Traffic Control (ATC), Fixed Base Operations (FBO) and others as necessary regarding airfield matters.
  • Compiles monthly, annual and special reports on aviation activities as required by city policies, State and Federal regulations.
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the aviation budget.
  • Tracks daily aviation budget expenses and balances; performs bookkeeping tasks and maintains inventory of office supplies and equipment.
  • Monitors daily airfield activities and notifies Airport Manager and Operations Supervisor as required.
  • Operates and monitors city aviation channel radio communications and serves as central dispatch/communications to aviation staff and other city employees.
  • Prepares city ordinances and resolutions submitted by the division; consults with other city departments on matters of mutual interest.
  • Prepares and distributes agenda for the Aviation Advisory Board and transcribes official meeting minutes for the City Clerk to post as public record.
  • Performs administrative duties for the Airport Manager.
  • Attendance of all City training courses and various conferences relating the airport operations is desirable.
  • Assists Airport Manager with various public meetings, presentations and other official functions.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
