Snake River Correctional Institution is seeking a dedicated Administrative Specialist 1 to join our Education Services team. About the Job – Your Role In this vital role, you’ll help coordinate educational resources and technology services that support adults in custody (AICs) on their path to personal growth and successful reentry. You’ll assist with the daily operations of the education department by managing computer labs, coordinating college classes, and overseeing laptop access for AICs enrolled in educational programs. You will work closely with an Education Program Analyst 1 (PA1) who leads the college education programming, partnering to ensure schedules, resources, and technology align with program needs. This position collaborates with students, instructors, DOC staff, partner colleges, and IT teams to ensure smooth program delivery and reliable access to technology within a secure environment. As an Administrative Specialist 1, you’ll help develop and maintain procedures for computer lab use, laptop checkout, and classroom operations. You’ll orient new students to available technology, assist with accessing laptops and required software, and ensure classrooms and labs are prepared for daily use. Your responsibilities include accurate data entry for student records, attendance, and progress in DOC systems; proctoring exams; monitoring laptop inventory; and maintaining lab security. You’ll also support online learning by coordinating with DOC and college IT staff, assisting AICs with forms such as FAFSA and college applications, and troubleshooting access issues as they arise. In addition, you’ll supervise and train AIC tutors and clerks, coordinate callouts and class schedules, and support application and approval processes for educational and vocational programs. You’ll gather data, compile reports, and maintain up-to-date documentation to track participation and outcomes. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR An associate degree in general office occupations and one (1) year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, policies, and procedures related to technology use, security, and education programs.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication for professional correspondence, reporting, and instructional purposes.
  • Experience assisting individuals with technology, software orientation, and troubleshooting basic computer issues.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and report program data and statistics.
