About The Position

This is a half-time (0.5 FTE) position responsible for performing complex secretarial, office administration, and public relations assignments. The role involves coordinating administrative activities, requiring frequent contact with executives, the public, other agencies, and government officials, utilizing effective public relations and liaison skills. Incumbents may attend meetings to relay and collect information, function with considerable independence, and exercise discretion in applying policies and procedures. The work requires extensive knowledge of department programs and objectives, and incumbents are responsible for research, compilation, and organization of materials for administrators' use in problem resolution. They may also be responsible for ensuring other staff assignments are completed and timelines are met, and may supervise staff. These positions independently research, analyze, and compile information to prepare reports, handle complaints, or resolve problems; compose correspondence for the supervisor on their own initiative or from general instructions; and format/type a variety of executive, sensitive, confidential, official, and/or legal letters and documents.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of office support functions including word processing, filing, composing a variety of business documents, and reception.
  • Good knowledge of researching, compiling, and summarizing data for reports.
  • Experience interpreting, applying, and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies, or services.
  • Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting.
  • Experience coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements.
