About The Position

The Administrative and Accounting Associate performs various accounting functions to ensure full and accurate accounting of the organization’s financial transactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and accounting coursework preferred
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent math skills; comfortable and accurate when working with figures
  • Good internal and external customer service skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Previous data entry or accounting experience preferred
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting software
  • May be trained to perform some of the key responsibilities of the job
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Sort, batch, log, and process incoming mail, including the processing of donations
  • Notify necessary Michigan Humane staff of incoming donations/restricted gifts
  • Scan checks for deposit using remote deposit capture
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Cash receipt entry for donations and contract agency receivable payments
  • Provide assistance and backup for the facility cash reports, processing of invoices, cash receipts and other accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
  • Prepare outgoing mail for USPS and internal courier
  • Scan non-electronic supporting documents for Finance team including estate documentation, investment statements, etc.
  • Greet office visitors and receive office deliveries
  • Provide assistance and backup for the processing of invoices, cash receipts and other accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
  • Inventory and order kitchen/office supplies
  • Provide other support to accounting functions as needed
  • Provide event support as needed
